The Axis II XP package combines Savage's floating bolt head and thread-in headspacing with the AccuTrigger, giving the action consistent alignment and a user-adjustable trigger pull with an integral safety blade. The 22 in button-rifled barrel is carbon steel with a sporter profile, recessed crown, and matte black finish.
The tan/FDE synthetic stock is fixed and practical, featuring textured panels on the grip and fore-end for secure handling. A vented recoil pad helps manage shoulder feel, and front and rear sling-swivel studs are installed for carry options. Length of pull is 13.5 in.
Optics are ready to use with the included Bushnell Trophy 3-9x40 variable-power scope mounted on a one-piece Picatinny rail with rings. The scope uses a duplex reticle in the second focal plane. The rifle has no iron sights.
Controls are straightforward with a two-position tang safety. Feeding is via a detachable 4-round box magazine for a total capacity of 4+1 in 6.5 Creedmoor. The receiver and barrel are carbon steel with a matching matte black finish, and the rifle is made in the USA. MSRP is listed at $619.
