Released September 1, 2022, the Prodigy is Springfield Armory’s double-stack 9mm 1911 featuring the Agency Optic System. This example is the 4.25-inch Commander-length configuration with a bushingless, bull, match-grade stainless-steel barrel and a black-finished slide and forged carbon-steel frame marked SI GENESEO IL USA.
The slide is cut for the AOS, and this pistol includes an AOS optics plate with an integral rear sight among the included accessories. Front and rear angled cocking serrations provide positive purchase, and the dustcover incorporates an accessory rail for lights or other rail-mounted gear.
Purposeful upgrades distinguish this pistol: a Red Dirt flat-faced, skeletonized, red-anodized trigger paired with an EGW ignition kit; an EGW extended magazine release; an Atlas tool-less guide rod for quick maintenance; an extended slide stop; and a flared magazine well to speed reloads. Safety features include an ambidextrous thumb safety and a beavertail grip safety with memory pad.
Built on a 2011-style, double-stack 1911 platform with a textured polymer grip module, this Prodigy offers a 20+1 capacity and comes with both a 20-round and a 17-round magazine.
