This limited-edition Model 1886 is marked on the barrel "1886-LTD 1 OF 500," with the lower tang stamped "MODEL 1886" and a two-line serial marking on the underside of the receiver. The proof legend reads "WINCHESTER TRADEMARKS LICENSED FROM OLIN CORPORATION."
Produced by Miroku in Japan in 2001, this modern Winchester 1886 variant preserves the look and handling of the original while incorporating factory safety enhancements. The finish is a matte blue/gray over steel throughout the receiver and barrel.
The rifle is chambered in .45-70 Govt. and uses a full-length magazine tube with an 8-round capacity. It wears a 26-inch octagonal steel barrel and open sights, including a dovetailed blade front and a semi-buckhorn rear with a stepped elevator.
Controls and safety features include a top-tang sliding safety with a red "fire" dot indicator, a hammer-block safety, and an external rebounding hammer. The walnut straight-grip stock and walnut forend are paired with a crescent steel buttplate, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
