The Russian-configuration SIG556xi is chambered in 7.62x39 and accepts standard AK-pattern magazines via an AK-pattern rock-and-lock magazine well and paddle-style release. It offers a 30+1 capacity with right-side ejection and a rotating multi-lug bolt.
Its operating system is semi-automatic with a long-stroke gas piston. Controls include a two-position safety selector and a right-side, reciprocating charging handle.
