The Model 36-11 retains the classic J-frame profile in a 5-shot snubnose configuration. Its 1.875 inch tapered pencil barrel and exposed ejector rod reflect the traditional Chief’s Special layout while keeping the package trim and well-balanced.
Controls and sights are straightforward and robust: a ramped front blade and a fixed rear notch integral to the topstrap, a smooth-faced trigger, and an external spurred hammer for DA/SA operation.
Factory markings include the yoke cut stamped "36-11," a barrel rollmark of ".38 S&W SPL +P," "SMITH & WESSON" on the barrel, and "MADE IN U.S.A. ... SPRINGFIELD, MASS." on the frame. An internal key-lock window sits above the cylinder latch as a built-in safety feature.
The revolver’s blued carbon-steel frame, cylinder, and barrel are complemented by round-butt checkered hardwood stocks with S&W medallions. The combination underscores the Classic-series aesthetic while delivering a durable, time-tested build.
