The Handi-Rifle is built on the SB2 rifle-strength receiver/frame, engineered for centerfire use and known for straightforward dependability. This example is chambered in .45-70 Govt and uses a single-shot, break-action layout with an exposed hammer and a top-tang locking lever.
The 22 in carbon steel barrel wears a blued/black oxide finish and retains open iron sights, with a ramped front blade and an open rear sight on a stepped elevator. The barrel is drilled and tapped, and this rifle has a two-screw Weaver/Picatinny-style scope base already installed. The muzzle is unthreaded.
Stocked in wood with a satin-stained finish, the rifle has a straight-comb buttstock and a slim matching forearm. A ventilated rubber recoil pad helps manage the .45-70 cartridge, and the length of pull is 14.0 in. A factory rear sling swivel stud is installed; there is no front stud on the forearm.
Notable details include the circled "P" proof mark on the barrel and U.S. manufacture. The Handi-Rifle line historically supported factory barrel-fitting for multi-caliber versatility, adding to the platform’s appeal. This example also includes its factory box with a matching catalog end label.
