The rifle uses the large-ring Mauser 98 action with controlled-round-feed and a cock-on-open bolt. Feeding is via a 5-round internal, charger-loaded magazine with a hinged floorplate, and the receiver bridge includes a stripper-clip guide.
The Weimar rework includes an approximately 22.5 in barrel, shorter than the original Gewehr 98 specification. Sights are classic military pattern: an unhooded blade front on a block base, and a barrel-mounted tangent rear sight with a sliding cursor graduated to 20.
