The MCX-SPEAR's operating system is a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston design with a two-position adjustable gas regulator tailored for suppressed or unsuppressed use. The left-side, non-reciprocating charging handle aids manipulation while keeping the rifle on target.
The 16 in steel barrel is free-floated and threaded, capped with a three-prong flash hider featuring a QD/taper collar. This setup pairs with the free-float M-LOK aluminum handguard to provide a stable foundation for accessories.
Ergonomics and controls include an ambidextrous magazine release and an ambidextrous safety selector, combined with Sig Sauer's two-stage Matchlite Duo trigger. The stock folds and telescopes with adjustable length of pull, and the rifle wears a SIG SAUER polymer pistol grip.
