The 14.5 inch heavy-walled cylinder-bore barrel is smoothbore and topped with a brass bead front sight for a clear, durable aiming point. The short, heavy barrel profile is built to handle repeated use, and the cylinder bore is configured for broad patterning with appropriate 12 gauge loads.
The 590 action includes dual extractors, twin action bars, steel-to-steel lockup, and an anti-jam elevator. A tang-mounted safety offers intuitive operation, and the ejection port is on the right side.
Furniture includes a black polymer bird's-head (Raptor-style) grip with a rear sling-swivel stud, and a ribbed polymer corncob fore-end with a nylon strap embroidered "Mossberg" for added purchase. The magazine cap incorporates a front sling-swivel stud and secures the barrel's integral barrel/magazine support ring (barrel lug).
The aluminum-alloy receiver wears a uniform matte silver/gray finish and is drilled and tapped for accessories. This model is chambered for 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells and has a factory capacity of 5+1 with 2 3/4 inch shells. Made in the United States.
