    Smith & Wesson Model 60-4 .38 Special J-Frame, 3-Inch Stainless, Adjustable Sights, Pre-Lock (1994)

This 1994 Smith & Wesson Model 60-4 is a J-frame, five-shot .38 Special with a 3-inch heavy barrel, full-length underlug, and adjustable sights. Built in the pre-lock, pre-MIM era with forged, case-colored hammer and trigger, it represents a desirable stainless-steel variant in the Model 60 lineage, the first mass-produced stainless revolver line.

    What’s Included

    • Box included (not original factory box)

The Model 60-4 configuration pairs a J-frame stainless build with a 3-inch heavy barrel and full-length underlug for a sturdy, well-balanced .38 Special package. It uses a five-shot fluted cylinder and operates in double-action/single-action with a smooth trigger.

The sighting system is an adjustable square-notch rear and a pinned ramp front with a serrated face. The pinned design allows front blade changes, and the barrel’s serrated top rib helps cut glare along the sighting plane.

This example is a pre-lock, pre-MIM revolver featuring forged, case-colored hammer and trigger. The hammer has an exposed, checkered spur for positive control, and the overall brushed/satin stainless finish complements the durable stainless-steel construction throughout the frame, cylinder, and barrel.

Factory markings include the S&W crest/logo on the right side of the frame, standard Springfield, Massachusetts rollmarks, and caliber/model markings on the barrel and yoke cut. Black rubber finger-groove wraparound grips provide a secure hold. As a 1990s production revolver and descendant of the first mass-produced stainless-steel revolver line, it carries solid appeal for collectors and S&W enthusiasts.
