This Springfield Armory 1911 DS Prodigy AOS is a compact, double-stack 9mm built on a forged steel frame and slide with a durable black Cerakote finish. It features a 4.25-inch bushingless, match-grade stainless bull barrel with a 1:16 twist, the Agency Optic System (AOS) co-developed with Agency Arms, and a polymer grip module with Adaptive Grip Texture and a flared magwell. Made in the USA, it comes with one 20-round magazine, one 17-round magazine, and two AOS optic plates.

The compact Prodigy configuration pairs a 4.25-inch bushingless, match-grade stainless bull barrel with a recoil-operated, single-action 1911 DS platform. The barrel’s 1:16 twist and bull profile support the pistol’s double-stack 9mm format and compact overall length of approximately 7.8 inches.
Construction centers on forged carbon-steel for the slide and forged steel for the receiver, both finished in black Cerakote. The polymer grip module uses Adaptive Grip Texture and integrates a flared magazine well for confident magazine changes.
The AOS optics interface, co-developed with Agency Arms, provides a dedicated mounting system that uses plates which can incorporate the rear sight. This pistol includes AOS plates A13B and A14B and a green fiber-optic front sight. An integral Picatinny-style rail on the dust cover supports compatible weapon lights or accessories.
Controls and operating features include a long, lightened trigger; ambidextrous thumb safety; grip safety with memory bump; left-side magazine release; and a skeletonized hammer. Slide and chamber markings include PRODIGY and DS on the slide and S.A. 9MM on the chamber. The Prodigy line was introduced in 2022 as Springfield Armory’s double-stack 1911 series.
