Safety highlights include a grip safety, trigger safety tab, loaded-chamber indicator, and striker-status indicator. Matching serial numbers on the barrel, slide, and frame, plus factory markings including the Croatia crest, add clarity and provenance. It ships with two factory stainless steel magazines and the original Springfield Armory hard case with documentation.

The Sub-Compact XD-40 uses a 3-inch, hammer-forged, Melonite-treated barrel and a forged steel slide with a Melonite/nitrided finish for durability and corrosion resistance. A captive dual recoil spring system is tuned for the compact slide and barrel length.
Controls and ergonomics include an ambidextrous magazine release and a polymer frame with molded texturing. The slide features front and rear cocking serrations for positive manipulation. A single-slot accessory rail accommodates compatible lights or accessories.
Sight configuration is a drift-dovetailed steel 3-dot set: a front post with a white dot and a rear with two white dots. This setup is straightforward and serviceable for defensive or range use.
Safety and status cues are comprehensive: a grip safety, a trigger safety tab, a loaded-chamber indicator, and a striker-status indicator. The striker-fired action keeps the manual of arms consistent.
