1954 Marlin 336-A .30-30 Lever-Action, 24 in Barrel, Pre-Micro-Groove, Side-Eject, Tasco Scope Installed
This 1954 Marlin 336-A is a classic, side-eject lever-action in .30-30 with the long 24 in barrel and 2/3-length tubular magazine. It predates Marlin’s Micro-Groove rifling and the barrel carries no "Micro-Groove" marking. The receiver is a solid-top design drilled and tapped for optics, and this rifle comes with a top-mounted base, rings, and an installed Tasco variable-power scope.

Specific Condition Notes: The action is tight for its age and condition, and the hammer drops with significant force. There is widespread rust and pitting across the metal surfaces. There are widespread scratches and blemishes. The buttstock has completely broken off the firearm; the stock will be provided but shows extensive damage.

The 336-A configuration features a 24 in barrel and a 2/3-length tubular magazine for about six rounds, capped by a rifle-style steel forend cap. It uses a side-eject, solid-top receiver that is drilled and tapped, with a top-mounted base and rings already in place. The left receiver wall shows three unused threaded holes.
This example predates Micro-Groove rifling, and the barrel lacks the "Micro-Groove" marking. For collectors of early Marlin lever guns, that detail helps place the rifle in its mid-1950s context.
Factory-style sights remain in place: a ramped front sight with a pinned blade (hood absent) and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight with an elevator. The installed Tasco variable-power scope provides a magnified sighting option via the included base and rings.
As produced, the rifle uses a pistol-grip, uncheckered wood buttstock and a matching uncheckered wood forearm. Sling carry is supported by a stud at the toe and a swivel loop on the magazine cap, and the butt currently wears a replacement red/orange Ruger-marked rubber recoil pad with a black spacer (non-factory for a 1954 336-A).
