Product Description

Inland Mfg (GM) M1 Carbine .30 Carbine, 18 in Barrel, 1944-Dated, WWII Configuration

This Inland Mfg M1 Carbine is a WWII-era example with a barrel marked "INLAND MFG. DIV. / GENERAL MOTORS" and dated 12-44, paired with a receiver marked "U.S. CARBINE / CAL. .30 M1." It presents a late-war feature mix that includes a round bolt, a stamped fully adjustable rear sight, and a narrow barrel band without a bayonet lug.

The rifle features a phosphate-finished steel receiver, hardwood stock with a four-rivet top handguard, and appropriate period markings, including a barrel proof and a foreign property/rack stamp on the right buttstock, underscoring its period production.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: Shows wear consistent with a milsurp weapon.

    What’s Included

    • 1x 15-round GI-pattern steel detachable box magazine

Produced by Inland (General Motors), the largest M1 Carbine contractor, this rifle aligns with late-1944 production features. The 12-44 barrel date and Inland/GM rollmark are clear, and the receiver carries the standard "U.S. CARBINE / CAL. .30 M1" legend.

It uses the short-stroke gas piston, semi-automatic action with an 18-inch barrel and a GI-pattern detachable box magazine system. Capacity is 15+1 with the included 15-round magazine.

Sighting equipment consists of a protected blade front and a stamped, fully adjustable aperture rear sight with a windage knob. The rifle retains the narrow barrel band without a bayonet lug and a round bolt, both characteristic of its late-war feature set. The gas piston housing is located under the barrel.

The hardwood stock has an oil finish, straight grip, oval sling cut, and a steel buttplate, matched with a hardwood four-rivet top handguard. Notable marks include a "P" proof on the barrel behind the front sight and a boxed foreign property/rack stamp on the right buttstock (not a U.S. Ordnance acceptance mark). The receiver is steel with a phosphate finish, consistent with the listed overall phosphate finish.
