This Ruger Mini-14 is a 181-series, Pre-Ranch configuration from the 1970s with stainless-steel construction and a classic hardwood stock. It features a Wichita receiver-top scope base and a slotted flash suppressor installed, plus a leather two-point sling. The rifle is in very good condition with an excellent, bright bore, and includes a Ruger factory steel 5-round magazine.

This 181-series Pre-Ranch Mini-14 retains the early configuration with a four-screw gas block and a front sling swivel mounted to the front barrel band at the fore-end tip. It uses Ruger’s right-side charging handle with a bolt-lock plunger and a ramped front sight without protective ears, staying true to the period-correct setup.
The rifle is built with stainless-steel barrel and receiver components and finished in stainless. It wears a hardwood, straight-grip stock with a matching wood upper handguard and a black carbine-style buttplate. Length of pull is 12.5 in, and overall it presents as a full-size carbine with an 18.5 in barrel.
Operation is semi-automatic via a short-stroke gas piston, employing Ruger’s fixed-piston/moving-cylinder system and a Garand-type rotating bolt. Controls include a Garand-style trigger-guard safety and the familiar right-side operating rod.
Thoughtful additions include the installed Wichita receiver-top scope base and a slotted flash suppressor, along with a leather two-point sling for carry. The rifle is chambered in .223 Rem and ships with a Ruger factory steel 5-round magazine for a 5+1 capacity.
