The Model 86 is a compact Cheetah-series pistol chambered in .380 ACP with a 4.4-inch barrel and a single-stack 7+1 capacity. It operates via a blowback system and uses a DA/SA trigger with an external spurred hammer for confident manual control.
Its tip-up barrel is the key feature: it allows loading and unloading the chamber without retracting the slide. Among Cheetah pistols, this is the only .380-caliber variant with the tip-up design, offering a distinctive handling experience and straightforward chamber access.
The slide uses Beretta’s open-top design and carries fixed sights: a fixed blade front with the rear sight set in a dovetail. The B-series configuration pairs a Bruniton-finished slide with checkered wood grips featuring PB medallions, atop an aluminum-alloy frame with black anodizing.
Factory markings include "CAL. 9 Short" on the barrel, "PATENTED BERETTA U.S.A. CORP. ACKK, MD" on the slide, and "CAT. 6454" on the frame.
