The Model 631 is a six-shot, fluted-cylinder J-frame revolver with a 2-inch snubnose barrel and round-butt frame. It is chambered in .32 H&R Magnum and can also accept .32 S&W Long and .32 S&W, providing flexibility in ammunition selection.
This example is a pre-lock configuration from the 1990s with stainless steel construction and a brushed/satin finish. The barrel is rollmarked ".32 MAGNUM," and the yoke is stamped "MOD 631," matching S&W factory markings for this model.
Factory-style features include a serrated top rib on the barrel, a front locking lug, and a short ejector rod with a knurled tip. The revolver has a checkered cylinder-release latch, a smooth trigger, and an exposed hammer with a knurled spur for DA/SA operation.
The installed grips are aftermarket smooth synthetic "pearl" panels fitted to the round-butt frame. One S&W grip medallion is not installed; the loose medallion is included. Sights are fixed, with a serrated integral ramp front and a square-notch rear in the topstrap.
