Ruger P85 9mm Luger, 1989 Production, Full-Size DA/SA, Aluminum Frame
This is a first-generation Ruger P-series P85 chambered in 9mm Luger, manufactured in 1989 in the United States. It is a full-size, aluminum-alloy, hammer-fired DA/SA pistol with a slide-mounted safety/decocker and an integral lanyard ring. Condition is poor and it will require restorative work; see Condition for details.

Overall Condition: Poor condition.
Bore Overall Condition: Poor - Noticeable dirt, stains, significant corrosion or damage.
Bore Fouling: Severe Fouling - Extensive corrosion, pitting, or erosion.
Bore Rifling: Poor Rifling - Rifling heavily worn or filled with fouling or debris.
Specific Condition Notes: There is widespread rust and pitting across the pistol, with extensive scratching and blemishing. The bore is rusted out. Some parts are missing. The rear sight is missing and the rear dovetail at the back of the slide is empty. The hammer actuates and drops with force.
This pistol will require replacement or refreshing of parts, and extensive gunsmithing and restorative work will be required to return it to operation. Pistol is sold as is.

The P85 is the first-generation entry in Ruger’s P-series, using a Browning-type tilting-barrel, linkless cam/cam-block short-recoil system with the barrel hood locking into the ejection port and a cam slot under the chamber, along with a traditional DA/SA trigger and an external hammer. Its slide-mounted safety/decocker reflects the model’s design lineage and period-correct control layout.
The frame is aluminum alloy for durability with reduced weight, paired with a full-size profile and a 4.5 inch barrel. It wears black ribbed polymer grips with Ruger medallions, and includes an integral lanyard ring.
Sighting equipment consists of an integral front blade with a white insert; the rear sight is missing and the rear dovetail at the back of the slide is empty. When equipped, this setup is straightforward and robust for its era.
The P85 line has a noted Ruger safety-modification (decocker) program history. This example is listed with a capacity of 1 round.
