It operates in double-action/single-action with an exposed hammer and a smooth trigger. Ruger’s transfer-bar safety system allows safe carry of six rounds without compromising readiness.
The 4-inch stainless barrel has longitudinal anti-glare serrations along the top to cut reflections. Sights are the classic fixed setup: a ramped front blade paired with a square-notch rear that is integral and milled into the topstrap for durability and a clean sight picture.
The six-shot fluted cylinder carries an “S” stamped on the rear and is paired with a knurled ejector rod. Factory rollmarks include “RUGER POLICE SERVICE-SIX” on the frame and “.357 MAGNUM CAL.” on the barrel, along with the Southport, Conn., U.S.A. instruction-warning rollmark.
Aftermarket Pachmayr Gripper rubber grips enhance control and comfort. The revolver was made in the United States and maintains the practical, no-nonsense character the Police Service-Six is known for.
