It is an American-made service rifle built on the M1 platform and configured for the .30-06 service cartridge.
The operating system is the classic semi-automatic, gas-operated design with a rotating bolt and right-side operating rod. Feeding is via the internal 8-round en-bloc clip system, complete with the characteristic last-round clip ejection "ping." Controls and manual of arms are true to the M1 pattern.
