This Weatherby Mark V Deluxe in .270 Wby. Mag. is a Japan-made Howa production rifle from 1986–1987 with South Gate, Calif. rollmarks. It features the classic nine-lug Mark V magnum-length action, a 24-inch sporter-taper barrel, and a high-polish blued finish.
The Deluxe walnut Monte Carlo stock shows hallmark Weatherby details, and Buehler Orinda bases with 1-inch rings are installed.
Built on the Mark V magnum-length platform, the action uses a nine-lug bolt with a short 54-degree lift for rapid cycling. The bolt body is fluted and drilled with three gas-relief ports, and the full bolt shroud adds protection. It includes a swept bolt handle with a knurled knob and an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate and 3-round capacity.
The 24-inch sporter-taper steel barrel wears a high-polish blued finish and is configured without iron sights. The steel receiver is finished to match. Safety features include a bolt-shroud safety and a red fire indicator.
The Deluxe walnut stock has a right-hand Monte Carlo cheekpiece, cut checkering, a contrasting fore-end tip, and a contrasting pistol-grip cap with diamond inlay. Sling swivel studs and a Weatherby basket-weave recoil pad are fitted. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
Receiver markings include the Mark V patent rollmark and South Gate/Howa origin. The rifle is marked for .270 Weatherby Magnum ammunition. Buehler Orinda scope bases with 1-inch rings are installed, ready for the buyer’s optic of choice.
