The BPS platform uses Browning's bottom-loading, bottom-ejecting system and a top-mounted sliding safety. This example is configured for a three-round capacity via the Browning three-shot plug system. The PM serial code denotes 1980 production, and the 152 type code indicates the Hunter 12-gauge configuration.
The 30-inch Field Model barrel is steel with a vent rib and a fixed Full choke, identified by the single star marking and noted as fixed F choke. A brass bead front sight provides a clear point of aim along the rib.
Chambered for both 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells, the barrel markings read: "BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q. - MADE IN JAPAN." and "BPS SPECIAL STEEL 12GA - 2 3/4 AND 3 FIELD MODEL - 30." Manufacture is by Miroku in Japan.
The shotgun has a blued steel receiver and barrel, with a walnut pistol-grip stock and matching walnut forearm. The stock is checkered and fitted with a ventilated recoil pad and line spacers. Length of pull measures 14.25 inches.
