The 585-Series receiver is factory-marked "MINI-14 5.56 NATO" with the Ruger phoenix logo and the right-side "RUGER NEWPORT, NH USA" rollmark. This run reflects current production details for the Mini-14 Ranch Rifle and the series-specific receiver designation.
The operating system is semi-automatic with a fixed short-stroke gas piston and rotating bolt. A four-screw gas block is fitted, and the front sling swivel is integral to the separate barrel band positioned ahead of the gas block. A bolt hold-open/slide stop lever is present for manual lock-back. The rifle uses a Garand-style in-guard safety.
The 18.5-inch round-profile barrel has a non-threaded muzzle and a recessed crown. Iron sights include a wing-protected front post and an adjustable ghost-ring rear aperture. A black polymer ventilated upper handguard covers the gas system.
The hardwood stock has a straight comb, uncheckered surfaces, a rubber buttpad, and a rear sling swivel. The receiver is steel with a matte dark gray finish to match the rifle’s overall appearance. Length of pull is 13.5 inches, and capacity is 10+1 with the included magazine.
