The Model 14-2 is the K-38 Target Masterpiece configuration, built on the K-frame with a square-butt grip profile and a six-shot fluted cylinder. Chambered in .38 Special, it uses a double-action/single-action mechanism and carries the period-correct engineering update denoted by the -2 suffix.
Its pinned 6-inch barrel has a serrated top rib and partial underlug, pairing with a Patridge-style front sight and a micrometer-click adjustable rear sight for precise point-of-aim control. The cylinder uses a knurled ejector-rod tip, and the underlug remains short for classic balance.
Controls and firing surfaces are set up for target work, including a well-tuned trigger and a wide, checkered hammer spur. The hammer and trigger are color case-hardened, adding both durability and period-correct appearance.
The revolver wears a polished blue finish over carbon steel, and the stocks are checkered walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions and diamond escutcheons. Factory markings include the S&W four-line address on the frame and the large S&W Trade Mark crest on the sideplate. The yoke shows assembly number 93690.
