Product Description

Springfield Armory M1 Garand .30-06, 24 Inch Barrel, 1956 Production, Parkerized Finish, Walnut Stock

This late Springfield Armory M1 Garand stands out with a 1956 receiver and an SA F6535448 9-55 barrel, paired with the post-war T105E1 rear sight. It retains the classic parkerized finish over a forged steel receiver and walnut stock set with a circled P proof. Correct late-production features, including the cross-slot gas cylinder lock screw and integral bayonet lug, make this a noteworthy U.S.-made example from the 1950s.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: There is some rust on the buttplate. Overall, this rifle presents well for a military surplus example.

    What's Included

    • Tan canvas rifle case with 'U.S.' stencil
    • Tan cotton web sling (installed)
    • M1 Garand en-bloc clips

This rifle reflects late Springfield Armory configuration with a receiver heel marked "U.S. RIFLE CAL. 30 M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" and a parkerized finish over a forged steel receiver. The walnut stock shows the circled P proof, and both front and rear sling swivels are present.

The barrel is marked SA F6535448 9-55, and the bolt is 6528287-SA with Y01 heat-lot code. The gas cylinder features the cross-slot lock screw and an integral bayonet lug, consistent with its period setup.

Sighting equipment includes a standard Garand front sight with protective ears and the post-war T105E1 aperture rear sight with fine-serrated windage and elevation knobs and no lock bar. This configuration offers the practical adjustments associated with later U.S. service production.

It uses the internal 8-round en-bloc clip system and the proven gas-operated, rotating-bolt action. The 24 inch barrel yields an overall length of approximately 43.5 inches with a 13.0 inch length of pull. Made in the United States during the 1950s, this example aligns with late Springfield Armory production.
