The Tavor SAR’s bullpup layout delivers approximately 26.1 inches overall length with a 16.5 inch barrel, offering a compact profile without sacrificing barrel length. The system uses a semi-automatic, long-stroke gas piston with a closed rotating bolt for dependable operation.
The barrel is cold hammer forged and chrome lined, threaded 1/2x28, and capped with a birdcage flash hider. A 1:7 twist stabilizes common 5.56 NATO projectile weights, and the quick-change barrel interface supports straightforward barrel removal when needed.
Controls and ergonomics are built for adaptability: an ambidextrous two-position safety, non-reciprocating left-side forward charging handle that is side-swappable, reversible/convertible ejection setup, and push-button QD sling cups. The integrated polymer handguard includes Picatinny rail sections for accessories.
The flattop receiver carries a full-length Picatinny rail with housed flip-up backup sights, including a tritium-illuminated front post. The rugged polymer frame and stock in Flat Dark Earth include a rubber buttpad, while the serialized receiver/body is polymer with internal steel components; the flattop rail/sight housing is aluminum. The rifle accepts AR-15/M16 (STANAG) magazines and includes a 30+1 capacity.
