This Extar EXP556 stands out as a compact, lightweight 5.56 NATO AR-pattern pistol with an 8 inch threaded barrel and a short ported muzzle device. It uses a bufferless system with the recoil spring located forward above the barrel, allowing a molded polymer butt-cap in place of a buffer tube. The left-side charging handle, full-length 1913 top rail, and polymer construction make this a distinctive, USA-made configuration. It comes in excellent condition with two 30-round magazines, factory box, and manual.

The EXP556 uses a gas-operated, direct impingement system paired with a bufferless recoil assembly mounted forward above the barrel. This design supports its compact footprint and integrates a molded polymer butt-cap at the rear.
The 8 inch barrel is threaded and fitted with a short ported muzzle device. This setup, combined with the 5.56 NATO chambering and 30+1 capacity, delivers a practical, compact AR-pattern format.
Controls and furniture include a left-side charging handle, manual safety, and an MFT EPG16 grip. A cylindrical polymer handguard with a waffle texture provides a sure grip while keeping weight down.
The upper features a full-length 1913 top rail and a fixed polymer front blade sight. The AR-15 pattern magwell ensures compatibility with standard AR magazines, and two 30-round aluminum examples are included. The pistol is made in the USA with a polymer receiver and frame.
