This M&P15-22 Sport uses a semi-automatic blowback action and AR-pattern controls, including a charging handle, magazine release, and bolt catch. Its manual safety uses a two-position selector, mirroring the layout and feel of a centerfire AR.
The 16.5 in carbon steel barrel is threaded and fitted with an A2 flash hider. The bore presents a clean, mirror finish with sharp rifling. This setup pairs well with the rifle’s light, handy polymer receiver and furniture.
Sighting is handled by folding polymer front and rear sights. A full-length Picatinny top rail runs across the receiver and handguard, offering continuous mounting space for sights along the top of the rifle.
The slim polymer handguard features a vented slot pattern with an M&P molded marking. The stock is a six-position collapsible design with a 10.25 in length of pull, and it uses an A2-style pistol grip for a familiar hold.
The rifle feeds from a detachable box magazine and has a 25+1 capacity. Receiver markings include "MODEL M&P15-22 CALIBER 22 LR" and "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA MADE IN U.S.A."
