Produced at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant and marked with the arrow-in-triangle arsenal stamp, this carbine carries a barrel shank date of 1945, placing it in the WWII era. It is built on the round receiver pattern with a straight bolt handle and a 5-round internal fixed magazine in the traditional Mosin-Nagant layout.
This example has been sporterized with the bayonet assembly removed, the upper handguard deleted, and the fore-end shortened. The bayonet lug/collar remnants remain visible at the muzzle, reflecting the rifle’s original M44 format while highlighting the streamlined conversion.
The 20.25-inch barrel balances compact handling with the full-power 7.62x54R cartridge. Sighting is via a hooded post front and a tangent rear sight graduated 1–10. The action employs the standard cocking-piece safety.
It wears a one-piece hardwood stock with an oil finish, a side sling slot, and a steel buttplate. The steel receiver and metal components retain a blued finish. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
Import markings are present on the right side, including "GEORGIA VT" and "Russia," alongside additional inspection and acceptance stamps. These marks, together with the Izhevsk crest, provide clear lineage and authenticity for this USSR-made M44 carbine.
