Made by Izhmash in Russia, this Saiga 7.62x39 carries Izhevsk arrow-in-triangle and Russian acceptance proofs and is import-marked by Hesse, St. Paul, MN. It was imported prior to the 2014 U.S. sanctions that halted new Saiga imports, adding clear collectible relevance to its origin and timeframe.
The rifle has been converted from the original Saiga sporter format to an AK pistol-grip layout, with the fire-control group relocated forward and a riveted fill plate installed. It retains a fixed black polymer stock, a black polymer pistol grip, and the original sporter-style polymer fore-end with integral sling swivel. The stamped sheet-steel receiver is the Saiga pattern without magwell dimples. Length of pull is 12.75 inches.
Sighting equipment includes the AK front sight tower with protective ears. The rear sight leaf has been removed to accommodate the AK SCOUT rear-sight-block Picatinny rail, which is marked "AK SCOUT" and "PATENT PENDING." This rail provides a solid Picatinny mounting surface at the rear-sight block position.
It features an 18-inch threaded barrel with a multi-port muzzle brake installed. The action is a semi-automatic, long-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt.
