This SIG Sauer MCX Virtus Patrol in 5.56 NATO is a well-appointed, USA-made rifle with thoughtful upgrades and a quality optic already installed. It features a 16-inch cold-hammer-forged, threaded barrel, a long free-float M-LOK handguard with a full-length top rail, and fully ambidextrous controls. Notable additions include a Timney flat single-stage trigger, Radian Raptor ambidextrous charging handle, Radian 45/90 ambi safety, and a SureFire ProComp muzzle brake, plus an Aimpoint Micro H-1 red dot on a Scalarworks mount.
The MCX Virtus uses a short-stroke gas piston system with a two-position adjustable gas valve for tunability. Its internal dual recoil springs are housed in the upper receiver, so no buffer tube is required. This design pairs with a SIG 1913 folding hinge system and a Magpul adjustable carbine stock to deliver a compact, side-folding configuration with an adjustable length of pull of approximately 11.5–14.5 inches and an integrated QD sling socket.
Control layout is fully ambidextrous, including the bolt catch/release and magazine release, and is complemented by premium components. The Radian Raptor ambidextrous charging handle provides easy manipulation from either side, while the Radian 45/90 ambidextrous safety selector offers a familiar, precise interface. The Timney flat-faced single-stage trigger offers a clean, consistent break, and the SureFire ProComp muzzle brake is installed to help manage muzzle movement.
The rifle’s long free-float aluminum M-LOK handguard (approximately 15 inches) and full-length 12 o'clock Picatinny rail provide generous mounting space. Sighting is ready to go with flip-up iron sights and an installed Aimpoint Micro H-1 red dot in a Scalarworks mount. The MCX Virtus architecture is modular and multi-caliber in design, and this example accepts AR-15 pattern magazines with a stated capacity of 30+1. Receivers are aluminum with a gray finish and markings including "SIG MCX MULTI-CALIBER," "VIRTUS," and "SIG SAUER INC., NEWINGTON, NH USA."
