Coonan Model B Cadet-Length .357 Magnum Stainless 1911-Style Pistol, 3.9 in Barrel, 7+1, Maplewood MN Rollmark, Box and 2 Mags
This Coonan Arms Model B pairs a Cadet/Commander-length 3.9 inch slide and barrel with the full-size Model B frame, creating a less-encountered configuration that collectors seek out. Built in the 1994–1998 period with the Maplewood, Minnesota rollmark, it features a brushed/matte stainless steel construction, adjustable sights, and comes with its factory box and two 7-round magazines. The end label on the box lists Model B, Stainless Steel, and a handwritten “Cadet II” note with the matching serial number; however, the label’s barrel-length line states 5", which does not match the Cadet-length upper on the pistol.

This Model B stands out for its Cadet/Commander-length upper on a full-length grip frame, a very rare Coonan configuration compared to the standard 5-inch Model B or the short-grip Cadet. The 3.9 inch barrel and slide deliver the Cadet-length profile while retaining the 7+1 capacity of the full-size frame.
The pistol is built in brushed/matte stainless steel for both slide and frame and is made in the USA. It follows a 1911-inspired layout with single-action operation, a pivoting trigger, and both a thumb safety and grip safety for intuitive controls.
Chambered in .357 Magnum, the design incorporates a linkless barrel system and Coonan’s unique magazine geometry to reliably feed rimmed cartridges. Two factory-style 7-round magazines are included.
Sighting is straightforward and precise thanks to a low-mount, square-notch rear sight that is screw-adjustable, paired with a blade front featuring a white dot. Smooth walnut grip panels are installed, and an additional set of black checkered grips with a skull motif is included if you prefer a different look and texture.
Provenance details include the Maplewood, MN rollmark from the Model B era (1994–1998) and a factory box with an end label listing Model B, Stainless Steel finish, and a “Cadet II” note with the matching serial number; note that the label’s barrel-length field states 5", which does not match the installed Cadet-length upper.
