Tula Arsenal production from 1943, this SVT-40 is a WWII-era, gas-operated semi-automatic rifle in 7.62x54R. It retains the standard infantry configuration with a 24.6 inch barrel, integral muzzle brake, perforated steel barrel shroud, and brown phenolic (Bakelite) upper handguard. The rifle shows the Tula arsenal star and Cyrillic serial markings, and carries the C.D.I. SWAN VT import stamp. Chambering, features, and markings make this a well-documented example of the pattern.

Tula Arsenal manufacture and 1943 dating place this rifle firmly in the WWII era. It is the standard infantry configuration with the recognizable perforated steel barrel shroud and brown phenolic (Bakelite) upper handguard. The Tula arsenal star is present, along with Cyrillic serial markings on the receiver and stock.
The 24.6 inch barrel features an integral muzzle brake, and the action is the SVT’s gas-operated, short-stroke piston, semi-automatic system. The receiver is steel with a blued finish consistent with the rest of the rifle.
Iron sights consist of a tangent rear sight graduated in meters and a hooded front post. The full-length hardwood stock includes a finger-groove fore-end and sling hardware mounted fore and aft. Length of pull measures 13.25.
This rifle uses the detachable 10-round steel magazine system for a 10+1 capacity. One SVT-40 pattern magazine is included and is serialized. Import marking is present and reads "SVT 1940 7.62x54R MADE IN RUSSIA C.D.I SWAN VT."
