Produced from 1928 to 1931 in relatively limited numbers, it carries Winchester circled WP proofs and the classic barrel rollmark noting .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle chambering alongside the Aug. 29, 1898 patent.

Built for simplicity and reliability, the Model 58 uses a single-shot bolt-action with a manual-cocking knurled striker knob at the rear of the bolt. It feeds one round at a time and is chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle, making it versatile across common .22 rimfire loads of its era.
The 18 in heavy, round-profile steel barrel is paired with fixed open iron sights: a fixed front blade and a barrel-mounted open notch rear. Winchester circled WP proofs are present on the barrel breech and the receiver ring, and the barrel rollmark includes the model, chambering, and the Aug. 29, 1898 patent date.
This example follows the straightforward Winchester takedown approach, using the captive knurled thumbscrew on the bottom of the stock just ahead of the trigger guard; loosening it allows the barreled action to lift from the stock. The separate plain slotted screw in the fore-end simply secures the fore-end.
Produced from 1928 to 1931 with approximately 38,992 made, the Model 58 represents a concise Winchester rimfire lineage from the period. Notable details on this rifle include the initials "RL" stamped on the left fore-end, adding a bit of period character and individuality.
