The SCAR 17S platform delivers 7.62x51 NATO performance with a 16.25" barrel and a short-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt. Ambidextrous controls include the magazine release and manual safety. The monolithic aluminum upper features a continuous, numbered MIL-STD-1913 top rail for secure, repeatable mounting.
This rifle is upgraded with a Shock N Awe Tactical aluminum lower and an ambidextrous safety. The Timney 691S drop-in, match-style trigger provides a crisp, consistent break. A VZ pistol grip enhances control, while a multi-chamber muzzle brake is installed on the threaded barrel to manage recoil and muzzle movement.
The KDG MREX M-LOK free-float handguard extends the forend, adding M-LOK slots and forward 12 o'clock rail segments for accessories while keeping weight balanced. The KDG stock folds to the side and telescopes for an adjustable length of pull, with a stated range of 11.5–14.5 inches, supporting a compact footprint and tailored fit.
Optics are handled by the included Trijicon AccuPower 1-8x28 scope with an MOA segmented-circle illuminated reticle (red LED) and a 34mm tube; the scope and mount are included but not installed on the rifle. Folding front and rear backup iron sights are installed for immediate secondary aiming options.
Factory markings include FN HERSTAL BELGIUM, FN COLUMBIA SC, and the FN oval logo, with receiver information for model and caliber. The receiver serial matches the factory carton label. The rifle is finished in black, and it accepts SR-25 pattern magazines; a 25-round Magpul PMAG LR/SR Gen M3 windowed magazine is included.
