The 6-inch barrel combines a ventilated rib with a full-length underlug and a heavy profile, delivering the distinctive Python look and balance. The steel frame, cylinder, and receiver wear a high-polish blued finish, complemented by a six-flute cylinder.
Sighting is handled by an adjustable square-notch rear and a ramped front sight. Controls include Colt's rearward-pull cylinder latch and a knurled ejector rod tip, with an exposed hammer for double-action/single-action operation.
Built on Colt's I-frame with V-spring lockwork, this revolver comes fitted with checkered walnut target stocks featuring gold Colt medallions. Factory markings include the Colt prancing horse on the frame and a Hartford address rollmark on the right side of the barrel.
Chambered in .357 Magnum with a six-round capacity, it also accepts .38 Special. This 1975 production example reflects the 1970s Python era and includes an H inspection stamp.
