- Oberndorf Mauser K98k byf 41 sporterized bolt-action rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser
Made at Mauser-Werke Oberndorf in 1941, this K98k is correctly receiver-ring marked byf 41 with Mod. 98 on the left receiver wall. Wartime acceptance and inspection markings are present, including WaA655 on the receiver ring and rear sight base, with additional eagle/number stamps on bolt parts.
The rifle has been sporterized with a replacement commercial stock. The not original stock features a ventilated rubber recoil pad with a white-line spacer and decorative inletted plaques on both sides of the buttstock. The military handguard and bands were removed, and there is no military sling hardware or bayonet lug.
It retains the large-ring M98 controlled-round-feed action with external claw extractor, three locking lugs, and an integral stripper-clip charger guide. A three-position wing safety is mounted on the bolt shroud. The receiver is steel with a blued finish.
Barrel length is approximately 23.6 in (600 mm). Sighting equipment includes a blade front sight in the K98k base (front sight hood not installed) and a tangent rear sight with metric graduations. The fixed internal magazine feeds five rounds, with a stated capacity of 5+1.
Several major components show matching numbers, including the receiver, barrel shank, select bolt parts, the rear sight slider, and the bottom metal. Chambered in 8mm Mauser, this sporterized K98k blends wartime production features with later stock modifications.
