The ZPAPM70 uses a gas-operated, long-stroke piston system with a rotating bolt and a right-side charging handle. The selector safety includes a bolt-hold-open notch on the lever for convenient range handling. The receiver is a 1.5 mm stamped steel build with a bulged RPK-style front trunnion, paired with a ribbed AKM-style top cover (dust cover) with longitudinal reinforcing ribs for a clean, traditional profile.
The 16.3-inch cold hammer-forged, chrome-lined barrel is threaded 14x1 mm LH and secured by a detent. A thread protector marked "USA" is installed. The twist rate is 1:9.5. Sights include an adjustable AK leaf rear (graduated to 1,000 m) and a driftable front post set in an open-ear front sight block with a detent.
Classic wood furniture completes the rifle: a fixed stock with a ribbed metal buttplate and rear sling swivel at the toe, a wood pistol grip, and a wood lower handguard with three elongated ventilation slots plus a wood gas-tube cover. A front sling loop sits under the lower handguard. The cleaning rod channel is present; no cleaning rod is installed.
