As part of S&W’s first polymer, striker-fired Sigma family, this SW40V features a striker-fired action with a trigger safety, the non-rail dustcover of the pre-VE configuration, and a full-size frame. It is chambered in .40 S&W with a 10+1 capacity and a 4-inch barrel.
The matte stainless slide uses rear serrations and an external extractor, pairing with a durable black polymer frame. An integral polymer grip with molded S&W logo/texture provides a secure hold without added bulk.
Sights are fixed, with a white-dot front blade and a low-profile rear notch for a straightforward sight picture. The balance of the 4-inch barrel and full-size frame keeps the platform steady and predictable.
Factory markings include a right-side slide warning, "CAUTION - CAPABLE OF FIRING WITH MAGAZINE REMOVED." The serial number is presented on a white barcode label inset under the dustcover, consistent with Sigma-series production of the era.
