The 686-6 Plus is built on Smith & Wesson’s L-Frame with a seven-chamber fluted cylinder, giving it a 7-round capacity in .357 Magnum. This example is a DA/SA configuration designed for confident operation.
Construction is stainless steel throughout with a satin stainless (brushed) finish on the frame, cylinder, and barrel. The barrel features a full underlug and a matte, serrated top rib.
Sights are adjustable iron, with a red-ramp front insert and a white-outline rear. Black synthetic finger-groove grips with a molded S&W logo are installed. An internal key lock is fitted from the factory.
Factory details include an overall length of 9.56 in and a weight of 39.2 oz. The yoke is marked 686-6 to indicate the engineering change. It is the stainless counterpart to the blued Model 586. Factory SKU is 164194, with the included case label showing 164194A.
