The Series I (pre-Series II) configuration omits the Swartz firing-pin safety, preserving the original Kimber setup from this period. The right side of the slide is marked 'CLASSIC GOLD MATCH,' the frame reads 'KIMBER YONKERS, NY, USA,' and the barrel hood is marked '.45 ACP.'
Target-focused features include a fully adjustable rear target sight with click screw marked 'UP' and a plain black front blade. The long three-hole aluminum trigger incorporates an overtravel-adjustment screw, paired with a skeletonized commander-style hammer for a crisp, consistent feel.
The slide wears polished blued flats with matte rounds and has front and rear cocking serrations. The matte-blued frame is fitted with double-diamond checkered hardwood grip panels, an extended left-side thumb safety, and a beavertail grip safety for secure control.
A flat checkered mainspring housing and smooth frontstrap round out the handling set. Capacity is 8+1 in a single-stack .45 ACP format, and this example includes one 8-round magazine along with its factory case and period-correct manual.
