Built by IMI in Israel and imported by Magnum Research (Minneapolis, MN), this Mark I is chambered in .44 Rem Magnum with an 8+1 capacity and a 6 inch barrel. Period-correct markings include "MAGNUM RESEARCH INC., MINNEAPOLIS, MINN., MADE IN ISRAEL" and "DESERT EAGLE .44 MAGNUM PISTOL ISRAEL MILITARY INDUSTRIES."
It presents hallmark early Mark I traits: small teardrop slide safeties, the early single-step slide stop, and narrow 3/8 inch longitudinal dovetail grooves along the top of the barrel with no cross-slot rail. These features help date the pistol to the 1986–1989 production window.
The action is gas-operated with a rotating bolt and single-action-only trigger. Controls include a bilateral slide-mounted manual safety with a red fire indicator dot and an external hammer with a serrated spur.
Sights are fixed, with a front sight and a square-notch rear.
The pistol is steel-framed with a black finish and wears wrap-around textured polymer grips featuring the IMI medallion.
Four factory IMI steel magazines are included; one magazine base is stamped "2-88 44," consistent with a late-1980s timeframe. The Mark I platform is convertible via barrel, bolt, and magazine swaps within the platform.
