The XD(M) 3.8 Compact blends carry-friendly dimensions with flexible capacity. The 3.8-inch barrel is marked "MATCH," and the slide bears the "XDm-9 COMPACT 3.8" rollmark. Its bi-tone stainless/black finish complements a black polymer frame, and it is built on a striker-fired, short-recoil, locked-breech system.
Controls and safety features include an ambidextrous magazine release, a grip safety, a trigger safety blade, and an internal striker block. A pivoting loaded-chamber indicator on the slide top and a striker-status indicator at the rear provide clear status cues.
