Product Description

Thompson/Center Scout Carbine .54 Cal Inline Muzzleloader, 21 in Blued Barrel, Wood Stock, Open Sights

This Thompson/Center Scout Carbine in .54 caliber is a United States-made, 1990s inline percussion muzzleloader with the carbine-length 21-inch barrel. It features a blued round steel barrel, a matte-finished receiver, and a straight-grip wood stock accented by brass furniture. The Scout line was later discontinued following the 1996 T/C factory fire, adding period context to this carbine’s production run.

The single-shot inline system places the nipple at the rear of the barrel and uses an external hammer, designed for No. 11 percussion caps. A tang-mounted safety sits behind the hammer. The barrel carries the rollmark "THOMPSON | CENTER ARMS 54 CAL. SCOUT."

Open iron sights include a ramped front blade and an adjustable rear leaf for sighting flexibility. The wood stock is straight-gripped and fitted with sling swivels, complemented by brass components including the TC-monogram buttplate, trigger guard, and barrel band. An under-barrel ramrod with a threaded tip is installed.

Takedown is accomplished via the barrel band and a single hex screw. The carbine configuration uses a 21-inch round, blued barrel and has an approximate factory weight of 7 lb 4 oz. Length of pull measures 14.75 inches.

    What’s Included
    • Leather carry sling, installed on swivels

The Scout Carbine’s inline percussion system with external hammer delivers the straightforward operation that defined this series. Its tang safety slider and single-shot configuration keep controls simple and familiar. The .54 caliber chambering pairs with the 21-inch barrel to complete the carbine specification.

Construction details include a blued round steel barrel, matte receiver finish, and a straight-grip wood stock set off by brass furniture. The under-barrel ramrod with a threaded tip is ready for standard muzzleloading accessories.

Open sights consist of a ramped front blade and an adjustable rear leaf. The carbine retains practical field features such as sling swivels and a compact overall setup. Takedown uses the barrel band and a single hex screw for disassembly.

Produced in the 1990s in the United States, the Scout line was offered in carbine, rifle, and pistol variants. This example bears the factory rollmark and reflects the carbine’s approximate factory weight of 7 lb 4 oz and a 14.75-inch length of pull. The model’s discontinuation is historically associated with the 1996 Thompson/Center factory fire.
