Built on the full-size 1911 platform, this Government Model features a 5-inch barrel, steel frame and slide, and a 7+1 capacity in .45 ACP. It operates via a single-action, short-recoil system and retains the Series 70 pattern without a Series 80 firing-pin block.
Key Series 70 attributes are present, including an arched mainspring housing, short solid trigger, spur hammer, and GI-style fixed sights. The slide shows rear vertical serrations and an unmodified ejection port, keeping to the original pattern. Safety features include a manual thumb safety, grip safety, and disconnector.
The pistol wears a silver-toned finish on both frame and slide. The sights have added orange/red paint on the front ramp and rear notch for improved visual contrast. Checkered walnut grip panels with Colt medallions are installed, and an extra set of smooth wood medallion grips is included.
Factory-style rollmarks are present: the left side reads "COLT'S MK IV/SERIES '70 GOVERNMENT MODEL .45 AUTOMATIC CALIBER" with the Rampant Colt, and the right side reads "COLT'S GOVERNMENT MODEL." A "K" inspector/assembler mark appears on the right-front trigger guard. The 70G-prefix serial denotes Series 70 commercial production. Made in the USA during the 1970s, this example is paired with seven magazines and a leather zippered pistol rug.
