    What’s Included
    • FN Herstal Model 1949 (SAFN-49) Egyptian Contract rifle chambered in 8mm Mauser

The rifle uses a short-stroke gas piston with a tilting-bolt action and an adjustable gas system to tune operation. It retains its fixed 10-round internal magazine, intended for charger-clip loading through the receiver. The right-side ejection port and the gas system disassembly pin at the right front of the receiver ring are present.

Sighting equipment includes a protected front post and a tangent rear sight with protective wings and a sliding elevation ramp. The 23.2" barrel ends in a cylindrical muzzle cap at the crown, and a bayonet lug sits under the front sight base.

The full-length military stock is hardwood with an oil finish and a semi-pistol grip. It features a finger-groove forend, sling swivels, a brass buttplate with a trapdoor, and a brass stock disk. Matching hardwood handguards complete the service configuration. Length of pull measures 13.0".

Receiver construction is steel, and the rifle bears its original contract markings: the Egyptian royal crest and an Arabic serial on the receiver ring, plus an FN Herstal roll mark on the left receiver wall and an Arabic rack or assembly number on the rear sight base. Serial numbers are present in both Western and Arabic numerals. Manufactured in Belgium in 1950, this post-WWII Egyptian contract example represents FN's standard SAFN-49 pattern in 8mm Mauser.
