This Ilion, NY–produced XM15-E2S M4/A3 Type Carbine pairs the proven AR-15 platform with a 16-inch, carbine-length system and classic A2 sighting setup. It features an A3 flat-top receiver with a detachable A2 carry handle, a 1:9 twist barrel marked "B MP 5.56 NATO 1/9," and a Bushmaster-marked 6-position stock. Capacity is 30+1, and the rifle includes the hallmark A2 birdcage flash suppressor and bayonet-lug front sight base.

The A3 flat-top receiver integrates a forward assist, case deflector, and ejection-port cover, topped by a detachable A2 carry-handle rear sight on the Picatinny rail. The front sight is the A2 base with a round post and bayonet lug, giving a robust iron sight picture out of the box.
The 16-inch barrel uses a carbine-length gas system and is capped with an A2 birdcage flash suppressor. Barrel markings read "B MP 5.56 NATO 1/9," denoting proof/MPI testing and a 1:9 rifling twist suited to a wide range of 5.56 NATO loads. The muzzle is threaded.
Furniture includes a carbine-length, two-piece ribbed polymer handguard, a Bushmaster-marked 6-position M4-style collapsible stock with sling loop, and an A2 pistol grip. The aluminum-alloy receiver wears a hard-anodized black finish for durability and a uniform appearance.
Operating is via a direct-impingement system with a rotating bolt, and controls include a manual safety. Capacity is 30+1. The receiver is roll-marked "B.F.I. ILION, N.Y., U.S.A.," reflecting its 2011–2014 production era in the United States.
