The P17’s 3.8 inch hardened steel barrel is factory threaded 1/2x28, providing compatibility with common rimfire muzzle devices. Capacity is 10+1, and this example includes four factory 10-round magazines for extended range time.
Built for light weight and durability, the frame uses glass-reinforced nylon in a clamshell construction with external fasteners. The pistol retains a compact footprint at 6.7 in OAL, 5.3 in height, and 1.2 in width, and the unloaded weight is about 10.9 oz. The slide is finished in black with rear serrations, and the grip features Kel-Tec’s Gator Grip texture.
Sight alignment is fast and clear with a green fiber-optic front and an adjustable two-dot rear. Controls include an ambidextrous manual safety. The action is a semi-automatic, straight blowback, hammer-fired single action for simple operation with .22 LR.
