The L461 Vixen action is the compact, small-ring Sako platform known for its integral tapered dovetail scope bases and low-swept bolt handle. This example includes Finnish proof and inspection marks and falls within the 1972–1973 production window for the Vixen series.
The rifle is chambered in .222 Rem and wears a 23.5" sporter-profile barrel with a polished blued finish and no iron sights. The barrel lacks the "Bofors Steel" stamping, consistent with early-1970s Sako production.
The high-gloss walnut stock is configured with a Monte Carlo profile and a right-hand shadowline cheekpiece. It features bordered point-pattern checkering, a checkered pistol grip, sling swivel studs, and a 14.0" length of pull.
Controls and internals include an adjustable single-stage trigger, a right-side safety lever on the bolt shroud, and a steel trigger guard. The internal box magazine feeds through a hinged floorplate and holds 4 rounds.
Scope mounting is straightforward thanks to the action's integral tapered dovetail bases. A set of 1-inch ringmounts is already installed, providing a ready foundation for the buyer’s choice of optic.
