The Expert variant features a one-piece machined steel long slide with HK's HE (Hostile Environment) nitro-carburized finish and a fully adjustable micrometer rear sight paired with a front post. Its extended 7.48 in sight radius supports precise elevation and windage adjustments via click screws on the rear unit.
The 5.2 in cold-hammer-forged barrel uses polygonal rifling and an O-ring at the muzzle to promote consistent lockup. It is non-threaded, and the pistol operates on HK's short-recoil, modified Browning system with the USP recoil-reduction assembly.
A DA/SA match trigger with an adjustable over-travel stop provides a tuned break, while the frame-mounted manual safety and firing pin block deliver mechanical safeguards. The ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release allows fast, intuitive reloads.
The tough polymer frame integrates HK's proprietary USP accessory rail molded into the dustcover. Markings include CIP "N" nitro proof, the Ulm antler, "DE" country code, the "CG" 2026 HK date code, and HKI Columbus, GA import mark. The extractor carries the factory red paint line, and serial numbers are present on the slide, barrel, and frame.
This full-size .45 ACP holds 12+1 rounds and arrives with six factory 12-round steel magazines. Overall length is about 8.70 in, height about 5.86 in, and empty weight approximately 2.10 lb.
